StoryTrack is an immersive habit-tracking app that uses a library of books to motivate users.
Each goal or habit completed unlocks chapters in a book, turning perseverance into a rewarding reading experience.
THE
IDEA
This concept links personal goals with literary rewards, encouraging consistency in habits.
The objective was to create an easy to use product where users can set, track and share their goals, with rewarding aspects inspired by BookTok.
StoryTrack is a flexible and motivating app to help them build positive habits and see tangible progress without discouragement.
THE
RESEARCH
BookTok and Bookstagram are thriving communities, with #BookTok reaching over 150 billion views on TikTok and #Bookstagram gathering 80 million posts on Instagram.
These platforms show how Gen Z and Millennials embrace reading as both a social and wellness activity, highlighting an opportunity for StoryTrack to connect with users who seek personal growth, community, and motivation in their reading journey.
To better understand our potential users and test our assumptions, I conducted a survey and interviews. We wanted to know their wellness habits and, given the theme of our app, find the correlation between books and mental health.
We found that all of our respondents use almost daily a wellness app and do activities like meditation and breathing exercises to handle their stress and anxiety.
All of our interviewees also said to read books and found it help them relax and forget about their problems.

StoryTrack is positioned as an innovative habit-tracking app that combines personal growth with reading.
By differentiating itself from other habit-tracking apps through a literary component and immersive rewards, StoryTrack appeals to both book enthusiasts and users seeking a fun, motivating way to build sustainable habits.

DESIGN
Our app’s target audience, primarily Gen Z and Millennials,
crave authenticity, creativity, and interactivity.
They’re drawn to bold visuals, retro typography, and playful, hand-drawn elements. Gen Z favors unique, unconventional styles, while Millennials appreciate eco-friendly tones and minimalism with a twist.
SUCCESS
METRICS
The success metrics for StoryTrack focus on three key areas:
1. User Retention Rate: Aim for at least a 50% 7-day retention rate and a 40% 30-day retention rate, ensuring users consistently return to the app.
2. Habit Completion Rate: Target a 70% completion rate among active users, measuring their consistency in tracking daily habits.
3. Feature Engagement: Monitor user interaction with core features, including the home screen, progress visualization, and habit creation.
These metrics ensure the app delivers value, fosters engagement, and helps users achieve their goals.

StoryTrack’s growth opportunities focus on expanding its reach and enhancing user engagement.
By partnering with publishers, the app can offer a wider variety of books, genres, and formats, catering to diverse user preferences.
